MISSION

INART is a US based nonprofit organization led by a team with over 10 years of experience in successful community art program development in Central America.

Through the expressive arts, INART transforms conflicts and promotes peace building activities. We address issues such as poverty and social exclusion by awakening the creativity of human kind. We give people the opportunity to express themselves through the arts while beautifying common spaces and creating safe environments. This helps them take pride in their own personal and collective identities by experiencing the benefits of labor and communal bonding which lead to sustainable development.

The majority of INART's work has taken place in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Through the expressive arts we have developed resilience in the youth of these regions. In addition, we have effectively created jobs for adults and parents through alternative artistic recycling methods.

Women, who are often the head of the family, are trained in utilitarian art production through the reuse of waste. The program´s activities promote self-care techniques and enhance conflict transformation by facilitating an understanding of both personal and community needs. INART's holistic and therapeutic expressive arts programs have resulted in a decrease of violence and delinquency. The environmental impact of the repurposing and recycling programs is contributing to healthier and cleaner communities.

The expressive arts create the potential space to explore and rebuild a sense of identity, family and community. INART's goal is to offer support in the acquisition of skills and knowledge that empower participants to make safer choices.

Through your support, INART will fund peace building expressive arts programs for at risk populations in Central America, Colombia, Mexico and the Caribbean.
